How can we serve you better?
Dining at UMass nowadays is a lot better than it used be 10 years ago -no more hockey pucks, no more “just meat and potatoes”. When you are on your way to the DCs, your first thought probably isn’t, “What’s for dinner?” With a choice from a wide variety of food, your dining experience should be unparalleled. That’s our goal. Last Friday, we featured General Mills Week, including a cereal eating contest and a Beatles Rock Band Competition. It was a lot of fun and it was nice to see so many students get involved. Later that evening at Berkshire, the appearance of The Pillsbury Dough Boy, was a hugh draw. He is also known as Poppin’ Fresh, was a highlight of the evening. Many students could not resist poking Doughboy’s tummy and having a photo taken with him. I hope we created a memorable evening for our students.
Talking about UMass Dining Student Ambassadors, last week, we had a meeting with them. These twenty some students of UMass work for us and one of their main goals is to be a mystery shopper. At any given meal, one of them is on duty to check on our food quality, variety and service. They are doing a wonderful job and keeping us on our toes. During the meeting, we encouraged them to be more thorough and tell us even more on how we are doing so that we can better serve our customers. We also want them to gather information from other students and pass it onto us.
They told us we need more warm chocolate cookies at night as we run out of them too early and we need to have more stations open later at night to deal with the crowds. We talked about facebook and twitter and other areas of communication as well.
With 14,000 students on the meal plan, we want you to enjoy the food we serve and your overall dining experience. We appreciate your feedback – through email or the comment cards – we love to hear from you.
This is Ken Toong and thank you for keeping UMass Dining at the top.
