The Marketplace Café

Spring 2010 – Monday – Friday 8am to 3pm

Café Talesai: features authentic, fast but upscale Thai cuisine. Vilai and Prakas Yenbamroong, a mother and son team, have owned and operated Talesai, the Art of Thai Cuisine, for 23 years, located on Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. They have brought the exciting Talesai dining experience to the UMass campus. From Pad Thai to Thai Sloppy Joes, all priced around $5.95, it is the best Thai food around. Let’s break rice together.

Pita Pit: Founded in 1995 by John Sotiriadis and Nelson Lang, the Pita Pit was first opened in Kingston, Ontario as a fast food restaurant with a new and unique approach. The goal was to offer quality, healthy, fresh food – fast! With a friendly informal atmosphere and a varied and tasty menu selection the idea caught on elsewhere. Here at UMass, we opened our first Pita Pit in Worcester DC and it has become so popular that we quickly opened a second one at Campus Center. Every pita sandwich is made to order and you will like it with the first bite.

For the breakfast lover and luncheon crowd, The Marketplace Café continues to serve a full-grill selection of breakfast items including omelets, bagel sandwiches and English muffins, as well as burgers, fries, onion rings and chicken sandwiches.

This exciting addition to the line up allows patrons to select ingredients from a plethora of fresh vegetables, meats and sauces, which are then sautéed to order for a taste that’s out of the ordinary and out of this world.
